The overall aim of this work is to develop an understanding of how women and men construe employment and educational changes for women and how these have influenced possible gender relations within the family. The objectives are to:
- Document change and opportunities for women
- Identify how change is perceived by men and women
- How these changes have impacted gender relations within families, including how these changes are experienced by women and men (what priority/importance is given to promoting change, is change celebrated, is it a concern, a problem etc)
- Identify ways of supporting appropriate change and ways in which women and men would like to see changes in women’s situation within the family.
To achieve these objectives, this study is structured around three phases (Phase I, Phase II and Phase III) and involves a multi-method approach integrating in-depth interviews, survey questionnaires and focus group discussions.
